About the Role
We are working with a renewable developer with plans to build an aggressive pipeline in Japan and are seeking an experience solar and battery energy storage system design engineer to join their team.
Responsibilities:
- System Design and Optimization: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and optimize solar PV systems combined with battery energy storage solutions. Ensure that designs meet performance, reliability, and cost objectives while adhering to regulatory requirements and industry standards.
- Technical Analysis: Conduct detailed technical analysis, including solar resource assessment, shading analysis, energy yield estimation, and battery sizing calculations. Utilize simulation software and modeling tools to evaluate system performance under various operating conditions.
- Component Selection: Specify and select appropriate components such as solar panels, inverters, batteries, and balance-of-system (BOS) components based on project requirements and site conditions. Evaluate and recommend new technologies and products to enhance system performance and efficiency.
- Design Documentation: Prepare comprehensive design documents, including layout drawings, single-line diagrams, equipment specifications, and installation guidelines. Collaborate with drafting teams to produce detailed engineering drawings and documentation packages.
- Project Support: Provide technical support to project teams during all phases of project development, from feasibility studies and conceptual design to construction and commissioning. Address technical inquiries, resolve design issues, and support onsite installation and commissioning activities as needed.
- Quality Assurance: Implement quality assurance processes to ensure that designs meet quality standards and performance expectations. Conduct regular site inspections and performance monitoring to identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay informed about relevant regulations, codes, and standards related to solar PV and battery energy storage systems in Japan. Ensure that designs comply with local regulations and permitting requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field. Master's degree preferred.
- Proven experience in the design and optimization of solar PV systems and battery energy storage systems.
- Proficiency in simulation software such as PVsyst, Helioscope, or PVSOL.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to perform detailed technical analysis.
- Knowledge of Japanese regulatory requirements and permitting processes for renewable energy projects.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Fluency in Japanese and English, both written and verbal.
