Job title: Head of Technical
Location: Tokyo
Main duties:

• Build and manage the engineering and operations team
• Manage professional development of the technical team to ensure that engineering and technical resources are adequately qualified and skilled, mentor resources and manage performance
• Define, implement and improve engineering quality control processes and standards, ensure technical integrity of design, specification and construction of BESS projects
• Develop and maintain resourcing plans, allocate resources as required to support activities being lead by the Project Development and Project Management teams
• Liaison with Head of Project Management and Head of Project Development to ensure those departments are effectively supported by the Technical team
• Understand the processes, design development requirements and risks associated with the UHV grid connection application and construction process
• Stay abreast of key technology developments in the Japanese BESS industry, including equipment and plant designs, design standards and certification requirements
• Reports to General Manager, Japan

Essential requirements:

• University degree in civil, electrical or control systems engineering,
• Right to work in Japan,
• 1015 years' professional experience,
• Able to occasionally travel domestically for business.

Desirable requirements:

• Experience in building and managing technical teams, especially involved in development, design or construction of industrial facilities (ideally grid connected electrical generation or consumption facilities)
• Experience in power plant development work (not limited to renewable energy and energy storage),
• Experience working in civil or electrical engineering,
• Experience in negotiating technical contract terms with suppliers, contractors, government agencies or power companies,
• Practical experience in the development, design, quality control and maintenance of electrical equipment and systems that are utilised at infrastructure companies, electrical manufacturers, engineering companies, etc.
• Experience working in English and Japanese.
