We are currently seeking a talented Investment Manager to manage financial modeling of our operating entity and Renewable Projects in Japan. Reporting directly to the Regional Finance Director and Country Head of Japan.

The Investment Manager will be responsible for ensuring current and future projects are modelled correctly and meet our return requirements. Furthermore, they may gain exposure to support M&A transactions in Japan, focusing on operational finance needs and ensuring accurate tax assumptions.

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with the relevant functions to deliver a portfolio of C&I and Utility Scale Renewable projects.
  • Maintain senior oversight on development and maintenance of financial models and provide guidance to team on required model adjustments and refinements as transaction progresses.
  • Work with the relevant functions in deal structuring and due diligence process; prepare internal and investor presentation materials.
  • Work on project bankability aspects across various functions including PPA, EPC, O&M, interconnection, land lease, permitting, environmental and insurance.
  • Lead the financial planning, structuring, negotiating, and closing of non-recourse project finance; develop relationships with banks, financial institutions and external advisors throughout the financing process.
  • Monitor the performance of all operating projects according to budget.
  • Assist in setup local operations, including credit matrix and establishment of legal entities.
  • Create and receive approval for mid-term plan for the Country.
  • Comply with statutory timelines & requirements for local corporate entities (e.g. tax) and internal reporting requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or a related field; advanced degree and /or CPA highly desirable.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Minimum of 4 years' experience in project finance, preferably with substantial experience in renewable energy.
  • Proven track record of successful project finance and/or M&A closings. Established network of industry contacts is a strong advantage.
  • Strong background in financing, tax, accounting, financial modelling, and contract analysis with ability to contribute to or guide investment structuring and project due diligence.
  • Bilingual in Japanese and English.
