Job title: Head of Project Management
Location: Tokyo
Main duties:
- Build and manage the Project Management team
- Define, implement and improve Project Management and Control processes and standards, ensure consistent execution of project on budget, ahead of schedule and with excellent quality and safety performance
- Maintain visibility of schedule, budget, quality and safety performance of all projects, work with Project Managers to identify, track and manage project and portfolio level risks
- Provide regular summary reports of all projects in execution phase to C level management
- Manage professional development of the Project Management team to ensure that Project Management, and Procurement and Contracting resources are adequately qualified and skilled, mentor resources and manage performance
- Develop and maintain resourcing plans, allocate resources as required to support activities being lead by the Project Development team
- Liaison with Head of Technical and Head of Project Development to ensure resourcing requirements are understood and fulfilled across the main preoperations activities
- Understand the processes and risks associated with the UHV grid connection application and construction process
- Reports to General Manager, Japan
Essential requirements:
- Experience in building and managing teams, especially involved in management of industrial projects (ideally grid connected electrical generation or consumption facilities)
- Understanding and experience with project management and controls (cost and schedule management)
- Experience completing contract negotiations with local (Japanese) and international suppliers and contractors
- Right to work in Japan,
- 10-15 years' professional experience,
- Able to travel domestically for business.
Desirable requirements:
- PMP, PRINCE or similar qualification,
- Experience in power plant development work (not limited to renewable energy and energy storage),
- Background in civil, electrical or control systems engineering,
- Experience in negotiating contract terms with government agencies or power companies in Japan,
- Experience working in English and Japanese.
