About the Role

An established renewable energy developer is looking for someone to grow their presence across the South Asia region and as part of that looking for someone with a strong understanding of renewable energy project development to take on a role as a Project Development Manager in the region.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and structuring of renewable energy projects in India, which may include solar PV, wind, hybrid, and battery energy storage system projects.
• Lead coordination of all internal and external project development activities which include securing land, obtaining required local permits and approvals, securing interconnection rights, negotiating power purchase agreements or other offtake agreements, establishing EPC and O&M agreements, as well as securing project equity and debt financing.
• Lead and manage multidisciplinary project development teams, often numbering 10-20 individuals across different locations and including internal resources, consultants, and development subcontractors.
• Take a lead on negotiations for project acquisition and/or partnership agreements and manage the acquisition/transaction process, assuming responsibility for managing external relationships.
• Coordinate input from all disciplines with respect to due diligence, business case development, assessment of risk and corresponding mitigation strategies, and preparation of internal presentations and investment

Requirements

• At least 10+ years of experience in project development experience across the renewable energy sector in the Indian sub-continent.
• Prior track record in negotiating and closing power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, permitting requirements, project financing and terms and conditions for key project contracts (e.g. engineering, procurement and construction; asset management; operations and maintenance; project financing; governance agreements).
• Experience leading negotiations with external counterparties and closing complex transactions.
