About the Role
We are working with an exciting renewable & clean energy startup company which is focused on green hydrogen and ammonia in Japan / APAC and are seeking a Power Marketing Manager to join their team
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a regionally tailored marketing strategy in alignment with our company's agile business model, collaborating with Business Development, Project Development, and other relevant teams, as well as external experts, to ensure timely approval from management.
- Conduct thorough market research, including both quantitative and qualitative analyses, to identify target segments, companies, and end-users as potential buyers who can maximize the company's business and asset value. Share findings through internal marketing reports periodically.
- Cultivate partnerships with target buyers, such as data centers and other digital accounts with significant green energy needs, exploring optimal pricing strategies to facilitate their transition from traditional fuels and thereby shaping our overall pricing strategy.
- Lead negotiations with identified target buyers, overseeing the execution of offtake agreements and other key milestones, collaborating across regional departments and with external advisors to secure favorable terms for the company.
- Develop, refine, and enhance marketing materials, including presentations and proposals, highlighting the company's strengths and competitive advantage to stimulate green energy demand among target buyers. Customize materials for different markets and sectors to ensure effective communication.
- Expand the company's presence and brand in the market/sector by leveraging existing networks, participating in industry events and seminars, and utilizing online platforms and various channels to enhance visibility and engagement.
- Undertake additional functional responsibilities and tasks as needed to support evolving marketing needs within our business model.
- Stay informed about new developments, regulations, policies, and other important topics within the local hydrogen and ammonia operations, applying this knowledge to marketing activities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, management, or a related field. A Master's degree is preferred.
- Prior experience in Power Marketing or similar fields, involving proposal writing, negotiation, and contracting for complex trading, commodities, or power purchase agreements. Proven track record in creating and executing short- and long-term marketing strategies, managing Key Accounts, and developing country or regional marketing plans. Minimum of 5 years' experience required.
- Strong grasp of regional utilities, renewable energy, and the broader energy transition market, including understanding current trends, challenges, and competitors.
- Familiarity with local energy markets, decarbonization initiatives, and relevant regulations is advantageous, with specific examples such as Japan's renewable energy certificates, decarbonization power source auctions, and carbon pricing markets.
- Comprehensive understanding of key trends and major players within the data center and other technology/digital service industries is a plus.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills in multicultural settings.
- Capacity to work independently, displaying resilience and adaptability.
- Native proficiency in Japanese and business-level proficiency in English, both written and verbal.
- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and, if necessary, internationally.
