About the Role

We are working with a leading offshore developer with plans to build an aggresive pipeline in Japan and seeking a Deputy Lead Electrical Engineer to lead the design of electrical infrastructure for OFW projects.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate ESI activities in the electrical department.
  • Establish design criteria and technical requirements.
  • Define contractor scope of work for accurate deliverables.
  • Identify and mitigate discipline risks.
  • Manage stakeholder interfaces.
  • Apply project lessons learned.
  • Control delegated electrical engineering budget for project goals.
  • Execute and oversee assigned tasks independently.
  • Design power systems for grid compliance.
  • Optimize transmission voltages and loss estimates.
  • Manage Wind Turbine Generator technology and reactive power compensation.
  • Coordinate material procurement with Supply Chain Management.
  • Address engineering queries and requests.
  • Provide technical support for Variation Order Requests.
  • Coordinate vendor activities with the Construction Manager.

Requirements

  • Hold an Engineering degree or equivalent, with Chartered or Licensed Professional Engineer status.
  • Demonstrate experience with public electrical grid connections or power transmission systems and associated regulations.
  • Possess a good understanding of industry and regulatory standards in Japan, including IEC and Japanese Industry Standards.
  • Exhibit strong leadership skills with the ability to influence decisions.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English, capable of effectively communicating technical matters across Projects and Operations.
  • Display pragmatism in balancing technical decisions with operational needs for safe and competitive solutions.
  • Have knowledge and experience of HVAC transmission systems and utility connections in Japan.
  • Understand project execution and associated scheduling skills.
  • Familiarity with Control system interface requirements to electrical systems.
  • Proficiency in both Japanese and English languages.
