About the Role
We are working with a leading energy group expanding its renewable portfolio in Japan. They seek a Stakeholder Management Officer to support solar, BESS, and wind projects from origination through development to the handover to the construction team. This role involves engaging with local stakeholders and facilitating development activities across various regions in Japan.
Responsibilities
- Stakeholder Management
- Conduct professional stakeholder management to support solar, BESS, and wind projects.
- Collaborate with project JV partners ensuring smooth communication and alignment on project activities.
- Engage with local stakeholders, including government officials, academic institutions, local chambers of commerce, and suppliers.
- Develop positive and trusting relationships with key local stakeholders.
- Development Activities
- Ensure the smooth progression of project development, including site selection and negotiation with local municipalities and government.
- Support the development and execution of local contribution plans for competitive project bids.
- Collaboration
- Work with external organizations such as universities, government agencies, and trade associations.
- Promote high HSE standards and procedures, implementing global best practices locally.
- Bidding Support
- Provide support for bidding projects, including drafting and reviewing bid documents and proposals to METI/MLIT.
Requirements
- Excellent stakeholder management skills with the ability to develop trusted relationships.
- 5 years of experience in business development or stakeholder management in the Japanese energy industry.
- Understanding of energy markets, renewable technologies, and relevant national and regional regulations.
- Ability to analyze complex development topics and convey information clearly.
- Strong network and relationship-building skills.
- Fluent in Japanese, with English language skills desirable but not essential.
- Willingness to travel regionally and occasionally internationally.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
