NextWave is working with a leading offshore wind developer who is growing their team in Japan. 

One of the key hires they are planning to make is a Regulatory Manager to support the development of several of their offshore wind projects in the country.

Responsibilities

  • Navigating the regulatory framework in Japan to help acquire the project rights to develop, construct and operate offshore wind farms
  • Identifying any gaps in the regulation and consulting with authorities on solutions
  • Managing, coordinating and preparing proposals for the relevant project permit applications
  • Preparing formal letters and presentations for authorities and other stakeholders
  • Negotiating and then managing consents-related consultancy contracts
  • Leading meetings with external stakeholders, such as government ministries at all levels, legal firms, consultants, local communities and NGOs
  • Preparing detailed project consenting schedules and consenting risk overviews

Requirements

  • Degree in Business or a related field
  • Existing relationships with local authorities in Japan
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Japanese
  • Detailed insight into the local energy and infrastructure regulation and consenting procedures
  • Previous experience working on the development of a large infrastructure project in Japan
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present and communicate complex matters
