NextWave Partners USA is exclusively working with a cleantech innovator in the U.S., whose modular turbines harness the power of water as a clean, distributed energy resource. The client provides clean energy generation by placing hydro-kinetic turbines in canals.

As part of its growth strategy, the client is building its pioneering team and this role of a Regional Director of Project Development, Western U.S. is a leadership hire and will be instrumental in driving the development of power projects with the owners of man-made water transport canals. Reports to the CCO.

Given the start-up nature of the client and this being a critical leadership hire, the Regional Director of Project Development will have an equity incentive as part of the overall compensation. The role focuses on developing the Western US market. Ideally, someone based in California.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Regional Director - Project Development, Western U.S. will be responsible for originating and developing project opportunities and bringing them to a close. They will directly interface with landowners, PPA counterparties, government officials, and other project stakeholders.

  2. Regional Director - Project Development, Western U.S. will manage the permitting and interconnection processes and drive stakeholder engagement.

  3. Regional Director - Project Development, Western U.S. will develop new relationships with project partners to increase market reach.

Qualifications:

  1. Regional Director - Project Development, Western U.S. must have 7-10 years of strong hands-on experience originating and closing C&I projects in the west, specifically working with small utilities or C&I. They must have a solid network and understand the regulatory aspects in the west.

  2. Regional Director - Project Development, Western U.S. will cater to the small utilities and C&I as target clients and therefore, they must have a track record of project development, origination, developing, and closing deals with this clientele.

  3. Regional Director - Project Development, Western U.S. will be a solid developer and negotiator of PPAs and utilize existing regulatory structures to sell power. They must have secured development assets but also have experience as managing partners as the client plans to co-develop with large IPPs or Utilities. Hence, the Regional Director would have strong relationships with these co-development partners.

  4. Regional Director - Project Development, Western U.S. will have experience interacting directly with landowners, and state government officials, and other project stakeholders. Must have knowledge of project-based financial models.
