About the Role

Our client are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Interconnection who will be responsible for transmission analysis, assessments, studies, applications, design, specification, scheduling, testing, and assists in the commissioning of the point of interconnection.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Project Development department to identify optimal locations to interconnect solar and/or energy storage projects.
  • Lead transmission interconnection process of utility-scale solar and energy storage projects across multiple ISOs, utilities, and NERC regions.
  • Conduct power flow modeling, interconnection analysis, and utility coordination to evaluate available transmission capacities for existing substations and/or transmission lines, and identify potential and preferred locations for future projects development,
  • Manage transmission analysis for the grid to identify the locations of transmission constraints and evaluate the curtailment and congestion forecast and evaluate node-to-hub basis risk for the interconnection points
  • Lead company's entire project portfolio's interconnection related studies, applications, follow ups, checklists, tests, etc. with utilities, TSPs, DSPs, QSEs, and RTO/ISO's during the multi phases of project life to complete the process based on the specific requirement of that entity.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact during the development, execution, and construction phase of interconnection process.


Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Experience at Utility Scale Solar and/or Energy Storage Development firm is high preference. Experience at engineering consulting company or an electric utility is acceptable.
  • Six to Ten (6-10) years of overall experience.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with and communicate to Executive Management is a must.
  • A self-starter that can work independently on projects and key deliverables.
  • Expert knowledge of PowerWorld, PSSE, or other power systems modeling software is required.
  • Grid curtailment and congestion software knowledge and practice is preference.
  • Must be familiar with ISOs/RTOs, utilities, TSPs, DSPs, QSEs structure, process, and timelines for the US market.
