About the Role

Our client are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Manager of Transmission to play a key role in leading the transmission analysis and evaluation of the economic performance of renewable development projects across the United States.


Responsibilities

  • Responsible for conducting transmission analysis to predict system conditions and assess grid-related risks. This includes analyzing congestion and basis risks for both potential and existing projects with a long-term market perspective.
  • Utilize tools such as PROMOD, TARA, and/or Powerworld for energy market and transmission modeling to support activities like prospecting and PPA pricing.
  • Provide insights into RTO/ISO markets, price forecasts, basis, curtailment risk, and PPA cash flow evaluations to aid internal growth strategies.
  • Analyze energy market data, historical information, and fundamental data to draw conclusions and communicate results clearly to internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain up-to-date models, including RTO/ISO and local transmission plans, is crucial for powerflow and production cost analysis.
  • Assist the Development team in prospecting future projects through evaluations of Locational Marginal Prices (LMP), basis, and capacity markets.
  • Support the siting of greenfield renewable energy generation, energy storage, and transmission projects in the U.S. by conducting power grid analyses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's and/or Master's in Engineering or a related quantitative field is required.
  • Experience with production cost and capacity expansion modeling software: PROMOD (preferred), Gridview, PLEXOS, Aurora, GE MAPS, UPLAN, or Dayzer, etc.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in powerflow modeling software (such as PSSE, PSLF, Powerworld or TARA)
  • Working knowledge and understanding of various markets, such as NYISO, ERCOT, CAISO, MISO, PJM, and WECC
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skill
