NextWave Partners is currently engaged with one of North America’s Leading Energy Storage Developers who is seeking a Manager of EPC to oversee energy storage projects through construction, commissioning, and turnover to commercial operations.  The Manager of EPC will be a key decision maker in defining EPC work scopes, selecting third party firms, and supervising project progress on the construction of utility scale energy storage systems.

Responsibilities

  • Define and document RFPs and scope of work for third party EPC firms
  • Negotiate and manage EPC Contracts in accordance with projects’ budget and schedule
  • Participate in EPC selection and contract negotiation
  • Supervise EPC Contractors to monitor construction activity and progress
  • Ensure adherence to and compliance with contract requirements and delivery of contractual deliverables
  • Review deliverables from EPC contractors to prioritize critical areas for further design, engineering, or commercial review
  • Facilitate construction permitting activities and ensure that all required construction permits have been obtained
  • Coordinate construction efforts with interconnecting utilities and commercial counterparties
  • Ensure project quality control by conducting on-site inspections and coordinating third party independent engineering reviews
  • Track issues with EPC contractor to resolution
  • Report on project progress to management, investors, off takers, and other stakeholders
  • Collaborate with development and operations teams to ensure smooth transition of project from development to commercial operations
  • Assist with the development of internal policies, standards and procedures

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in civil or electrical engineering, project management, construction management, or equivalent
  • Experience with project management and/or construction for energy storage or renewable energy projects
  • Experience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating EPC and general engineering services agreements required
  • Strategic sourcing and procurement experience preferred
  • Building bottom-up construction cost estimates required
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication and negotiation abilities
  • Ability to interpret and communicate complex information effectively
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced and unstructured environment
