NextWave is working with a newly established Investment Group who are looking to grow their team in Singapore. 

Currently, they're looking for a Finance Manager/COO to providing leadership to the Admin/HR and Compliance, providing support for the partners to focus on investing, fundraising and business development.

Responsibilities

  • Company operations, budgeting, accounting, IT
    • Work closely with senior management team to create, implement and roll out plans for operational processes, internal infrastructures, reporting systems and company policies all designed to foster growth, profitably and efficiencies within the company
    • Implement all HR functions including offer letters and compliance
    • Manage the firm’s internal financial administration and prepare necessary reports on a timely basis for business planning, e.g. monthly management reports, annual budget and ad hoc forecasts
    • Manage/maintain accounting system
    • Facilitate audit, prepare supporting worksheets for audit
    • Responsible for tax calculations and interactions with / submissions to IRAS
    • Ensure that the staff are supported by adequate IT infrastructure, working with external vendor(s)
  • Fund accounting, monitoring, reporting and investor services
    • Monitor and manage all liquidity needs for the funds: 1) ensure sufficient bank lines of credit for managing liquidity / debt financing, and 2) optimize fund capital calls and distributions including use of credit line to improve efficiency and returns
    • Responsible for the preparation of quarterly / annual fund reports and prompt response to investor queries
    • Implement and maintain performance analytics database to support investment team and investor reporting / queries ILPA reporting and facilitate FATCA, CDOT and CRS reporting
    • Review investors capital statements, capital call/distribution notices, investment valuations
    • Forge strategic partnerships and relationships with clients, vendors, banks, investors and all other professional business relationships
    • Oversee external auditors and tax agents with regards to funds audit and tax matters
    • Ensure prompt service and accuracy from external fund administration team
    • Overseeing compliance with fund documents including Fund LPA and Side Letters, etc.
  • Regulatory and compliance
    • Together with the external compliance service provider, monitor all open compliance, regulatory and legal issues involving the firm as well as related matters affecting the industry
    • Responsible for interactions with MAS and other regulatory entities
  • Portfolio investments
    • Support on-going investment monitoring for portfolio
    • Support investment management activities including on-boarding, compliance, financial due diligence to prospective clients, and coordinating external advisors, service providers and consultants
    • Develop solutions for tax and structural issues relating to investment vehicles
    • Evaluate potential opportunities to improve fund level returns through tax structuring, FX strategies, capital structuring including subscription lines, and overseas or fund level debt, etc.
    • Ensure funds meet all funding requirements through either capital calls from investors or borrowing 
    • Work closely with the Investment team for preparation of Board Papers, Investment Committee Paper and ongoing Fund Reporting
    • Work with the Investment team and assist on valuations, distributions, as well as investment performance with the global LPs and investors
  • Others
    • Motivate and encourage employees at all levels as one of the key leaders in the company including but not limited to professional staff, management level employees and executive leadership team members
    • Foster a growth oriented, positive and encouraging environment while keeping employees and management accountable to company policies, procedures and guidelines
    • Work with the senior management in the capital raise process, participate in the company’s road shows 

Requirements

  • CPA or advanced degree in Finance or Accounting required
  • Direct CFO or fund controller experience at a private equity, venture capital or asset management firm
  • No less than 7 years of relevant experience in finance leadership positions
  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in fund accounting, fund administration, and fund tax structuring
  • Knowledge and experience of the compliance function
  • Demonstrated project management and leadership skills
  • Strong work ethic, initiative and attention to detail
  • Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
  • Positive orientation, persistence and energy
  • Proactivity and the ability to undertake multi-tasking
  • Ability to troubleshoot and identify problems, and find solutions
