Electrical and BESS Engineer

Our portfolio includes PV Solar, Onshore Wind and BESS projects across various stages of life cycle from development to operation.

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical and BESS Engineer to join our dynamic team in Tokyo. The Electrical and BESS Engineer will play a critical role in the design, development, and implementation of solar, wind and battery energy storage solutions across our renewable energy projects. This role requires a deep understanding of electrical standards, existing and emerging renewable energy technologies, project management skills, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

⚫ Lead negotiations and coordination with grid utilities, electrical contractors and regulatory bodies to ensure optimal conditions for grid interconnection and project design and compliance.

⚫ Submission and management of grid interconnection applications for renewable and BESS projects, including appropriate sizing and equipment selection in coordination with engineering department colleagues.

⚫ Lead the electrical technical design, engineering, and quality control of renewable and BESS projects.Conduct electrical design studies to optimize projects for implementation of most valuable and safe feasibility studies, including site assessments, technology evaluations, and financial modeling for BESS projects.

⚫ Drafting of standards for electrical design of renewable energy and BESS assets, with a focus on electrical safety and quality.

⚫ Collaborate with project managers, developers, and other engineering teams to ensure seamless integration of BESS into renewable energy projects.

⚫ Coordination between grid utility, EPC contractors, EMS and SCADA providers to ensure effective implementation of required plant control systems.

⚫ Oversee the installation, commissioning, and testing of Renewable and BESS systems to ensure compliance with industry standards, technical specifications and safety standards.

⚫ Stay up to date with industry trends, emerging technologies, and regulatory developments related to interconnection and operation of renewable and energy storage projects.

⚫ Provide technical support and expertise during the project lifecycle, including troubleshooting and problem-solving as needed.

⚫ Prepare and present technical reports, documentation, and presentations to internal stakeholders and external partners.

⚫ Regulatory Compliance, ensure all BESS projects comply with local, national, and international regulations and standards.


Competences & Skills

⚫ Education: Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field. A master's degree or MBA is preferred.

⚫ Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering, with at least 3 years focused in the electric power sector.

Technical Skills: Strong understanding of grid integration,renewable energy systems and BESS technologies.

⚫ Project Management: Demonstrated success in managing large-scale energy projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation.

⚫ Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Japanese; proficiency in English.

⚫ Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a focus on data-driven decision-making.

⚫ Adaptability: Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
