About the Role
We are on the hunt for a seasoned Director of Interconnection to join a leading developer, owner, and operator of utility-scale solar plants. This role offers an incredible chance to make a significant impact within a dynamic team environment, contributing directly to the success of our client's project pipeline.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Project Development department to pinpoint ideal locations for solar and/or energy storage project interconnections.
  • Spearhead the transmission interconnection process for utility-scale solar and energy storage projects, navigating multiple ISOs, NERC regions, and utilities.
  • Conduct comprehensive power flow modeling, interconnection analysis, and utility coordination to evaluate and optimize transmission capacities.
  • Oversee transmission analysis to identify grid constraints and evaluate curtailment and congestion forecasts, ensuring optimal interconnection points.
  • Act as the primary liaison with utilities, transmission service providers, distribution service providers, and regulatory organizations throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends, queue analyses, and transmission upgrades, contributing to the strategic planning and development of projects.
  • Review, manage, and negotiate interconnection agreements, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment with project goals.

Requirements

  • Deep technical knowledge in electrical engineering, with a commercial mindset highly valued.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, with a Master's degree in power systems engineering preferred.
  • 6-10 years of relevant experience in utility-scale solar and/or energy storage development, with consultancy or utility background also considered.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of engaging effectively with executive management.
  • Proven problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Self-motivated with the capability to independently manage projects and deliverables.
  • Proficiency in PowerWorld, PSSE, or similar power systems modeling software; familiarity with grid curtailment and congestion software preferred.
  • Comprehensive understanding of ISOs/RTOs and related regulatory frameworks.
