NextWave Partners is working actively with a leading Energy Storage Developer to fill a new role to meet the needs of their expanding team. Our client is seeking a Development Engineer with a strong Civil background to support the development teams with screening and bringing new projects into the pipeline throughout the United States.

Note: a candidate who has experience working with storage projects in rural and urban areas is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously with minimal review and oversight;
  • Delegate project tasks to outside consultants as needed for additional support;
  • Review scope of work and technical specifications for RFPs or similar solicitations;
  • Provide technical information to support project development including integration of scope statements, project schedules, system layouts, single line diagrams (as needed), battery performance modeling;
  • Evaluate prospective project sites and make recommendations accordingly;
  • Review erosion and sediment control plans/requirements, SWPPP’s, grading plans/requirements, etc.;
  • Draft multiple layout options and present pros and cons of each;
  • Maintain relationships with key equipment providers for pricing information;
  • Estimate proposal costs, and establish baseline project budgets;
  • Procure adequate technical due diligence for opportunities and engage third-party consultants as required;
  • Participate in prime contract negotiations to provide technical and scope expertise;
  • Manage relationships with both internal and external partners;
  • Stay current on codes, standards, new battery technologies, jurisdictional/utility requirements, and installation best practices;
  • Attend site visits, team meetings with internal & external partners;
  • Provide hand-off of developed project to project execution teams;
  • Demonstrate ethics and professionalism at all times.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Construction related field
  • Min 5 years’ experience (or equivalent) in renewable energy industry
  • Working knowledge of relevant codes and standards, including National Electrical Code (NEC), International Building Code (IBC), and etc.,
  • Fluency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
  • Familiarity with CAD and drafting BESS layouts
  • Organizational skills
  • Computer skills MS word, Excel and MS PowerPoint
  • Communication to third parties and executives
  • Bachelors or Master of Science in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited university and/or professional experience in engineering;
  • Strong communication skills including clear writing and presentation skills;
  • Independent self-starter who can manage projects and work with a diverse team
