NextWave is currently engaged with an energy conglomerate that has a branch that develops, owns, and operates solar photovoltaic power and a chemical production business.  The role provides an exciting opportunity for a professional looking for interesting work within a small cohesive team, the ability to expand their experience and contribute to the corporation's success. The Assistant General Counsel will support both branches of the business with general legal matters.

Responsibilities

• Leads team on projects as needed, including supervising the work of outside counsel and experts
• Accountable for meeting timelines, budgets and project objectives
• Provide advice, counsel and general transactional support in connection with the company’s solar development business including land acquisition, Power Purchase Agreements, interconnection and transmission agreements, and tax equity arrangements
• Draft and negotiate the principal financing documentation including credit agreements
• Provide legal support for bid transactions and acquisition efforts
• Provide legal advice for divestiture activities and sales of operating projects and projects in development

Requirements

• JD from a top-rated American law school and licensure under at least one state bar, or foreign equivalent with a Foreign Legal Consultant certification from the Texas state bar
• 3-5 years of experience as a practicing lawyer; preferred experienced as commercial attorney with extensive transactional experience in project finance and renewable energy specific transactions
• A highly motivated, self-starter that can work independently on projects and key deliverables
• Positive mindset and commitment to excellence
• Proficient at effective and intentional communication
• Exceptional organizational skills
