About the Role
A leading pan-Asian renewable energy platform is seeking a Senior Business Development Associate to support the growth of its solar, wind, and energy storage project pipeline across Japan. This role is ideal for a proactive and strategic thinker with experience in land acquisition, stakeholder engagement, and navigating Japan's energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities
Opportunity Sourcing & Market Development
- Identify and evaluate new renewable energy project opportunities through greenfield development, partnerships, and tenders.
- Support the development of a robust pipeline aligned with long-term strategic goals.
- Conduct pre-feasibility assessments and contribute to investment proposals.
Land Acquisition & Development Support
- Collaborate with GIS teams, land brokers, local governments, and internal departments to secure suitable land for solar, wind, and BESS projects.
- Assist in permitting coordination and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Support grid connection applications and monitor progress.
- Assist internal teams with project execution and milestone tracking.
Tender Participation & Commercial Support
- Contribute to bid preparation, documentation, and internal approval processes.
- Support commercial negotiations and development agreement execution.
Internal Collaboration & Reporting
- Work closely with investment, legal, engineering, and project teams to evaluate and advance opportunities.
- Provide regular updates on pipeline status, regulatory changes, and market trends.
- Contribute to strategic planning and business development reporting.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Real Estate, or related field.
- 2-5 years of experience in renewable energy business development, preferably in Japan.
- Experience in land acquisition and project permitting.
- Strong network with developers, government agencies, and contractors is desirable.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and analytical mindset.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
- Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Willingness to travel within Japan as needed.
