About the Role

A leading pan-Asian renewable energy platform is seeking a Senior Business Development Associate to support the growth of its solar, wind, and energy storage project pipeline across Japan. This role is ideal for a proactive and strategic thinker with experience in land acquisition, stakeholder engagement, and navigating Japan's energy landscape.


Key Responsibilities

Opportunity Sourcing & Market Development

  • Identify and evaluate new renewable energy project opportunities through greenfield development, partnerships, and tenders.
  • Support the development of a robust pipeline aligned with long-term strategic goals.
  • Conduct pre-feasibility assessments and contribute to investment proposals.

Land Acquisition & Development Support

  • Collaborate with GIS teams, land brokers, local governments, and internal departments to secure suitable land for solar, wind, and BESS projects.
  • Assist in permitting coordination and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Support grid connection applications and monitor progress.
  • Assist internal teams with project execution and milestone tracking.

Tender Participation & Commercial Support

  • Contribute to bid preparation, documentation, and internal approval processes.
  • Support commercial negotiations and development agreement execution.

Internal Collaboration & Reporting

  • Work closely with investment, legal, engineering, and project teams to evaluate and advance opportunities.
  • Provide regular updates on pipeline status, regulatory changes, and market trends.
  • Contribute to strategic planning and business development reporting.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, Real Estate, or related field.
  • 2-5 years of experience in renewable energy business development, preferably in Japan.
  • Experience in land acquisition and project permitting.
  • Strong network with developers, government agencies, and contractors is desirable.
  • Proactive, self-motivated, and analytical mindset.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills.
  • Fluent in Japanese and English (written and spoken).
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Willingness to travel within Japan as needed.
