About the Role
A fast-growing renewable energy platform in Japan is seeking an experienced Onshore Wind EPC Manager to lead the full lifecycle of wind project execution-from engineering and procurement to construction and commissioning.
This is a high-impact role for a results-driven professional with deep expertise in managing large-scale wind energy projects, ensuring timely delivery, cost efficiency, and adherence to quality and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
Over the next 2-3 years, you will:
Engineering Design Management
- Engage with advisors and contractors to develop optimal engineering designs suitable for EPC bidding and environmental permitting.
Procurement Strategy
- Develop and implement EPC contracting strategies that optimize risk/return, including contract structure, interfaces, securities, and scope.
Project Coordination
- Collaborate with development teams and contractors to ensure timely contracting and transition to construction, with all technical inputs aligned for NTP and financial close.
Additional Responsibilities
Project Engineering Management
- Lead engineering design and technical reviews.
- Optimize layouts and ensure compliance with Japanese regulations and grid codes.
Procurement Oversight
- Manage procurement of wind turbines, BoP components, and construction services.
- Oversee supplier prequalification, tendering, and contract negotiations.
Construction Management
- Supervise site preparation, civil works, turbine installation, and grid connection.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and enforce safety and quality standards.
Quality, Safety & Environmental Compliance
- Implement QA/QC processes and ensure regulatory compliance.
- Promote a strong safety culture across all teams.
Commissioning & Handover
- Oversee testing, grid integration, and documentation.
- Ensure a smooth transition to operations in collaboration with asset management.
Qualifications & Skills
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5 years in the wind energy sector.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of onshore wind technologies, grid integration, and renewable systems.
- Leadership: Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage stakeholders.
- Project Management: Experience managing large-scale energy projects, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Languages: Fluent in Japanese; English proficiency is a plus.
- Soft Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
