About the Role
A leading renewable energy platform in Japan is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electrical and BESS Engineer to join its dynamic team. This role is pivotal in the design, development, and implementation of solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) across various renewable energy projects.
You'll be working on cutting-edge technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to support Japan's transition to a low-carbon future.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead coordination with grid utilities, electrical contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure optimal grid interconnection and project compliance.
- Manage grid interconnection applications for renewable and BESS projects, including equipment selection and sizing.
- Oversee electrical design, engineering, and quality control of renewable and BESS projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies including site assessments, technology evaluations, and financial modeling.
- Develop and maintain electrical design standards with a focus on safety and quality.
- Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to integrate BESS into renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate with EPC contractors, EMS, and SCADA providers for effective plant control system implementation.
- Supervise installation, commissioning, and testing of systems to ensure compliance with technical and safety standards.
- Stay updated on industry trends, technologies, and regulatory developments.
- Provide technical support throughout the project lifecycle, including troubleshooting.
- Prepare and present technical documentation and reports.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with local, national, and international standards.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, or related field (Master's or MBA preferred).
- Minimum 4 years of engineering experience, with at least 3 years in the electric power sector.
- Strong understanding of grid integration, renewable energy systems, and BESS technologies.
- Proven experience managing large-scale energy projects, including budgeting and scheduling.
- Excellent communication skills in Japanese; proficiency in English.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
