About the Role
NextWave is working with a leading offshore wind developer who has received strong financial backing from various large energy & infrastructure investors that have a successful portfolio of over 3GW of offshore wind farms in operations. They are looking for an experienced Project Development Director to join their office in Korea to lead the early stage development of 4 offshore wind projects and to take them through the full life cycle.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee Consenting & Stakeholder Management: Spearhead the consenting process and stakeholder engagement for a multi-gigawatt portfolio of offshore wind projects in South Korea. This includes building strong relationships with government entities and other stakeholders.
- Project Management: Manage the entire lifecycle of offshore wind farms, encompassing consents, permits, environmental surveys, and all related activities.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Ensure seamless integration between different project workstreams, including engineering, procurement, finance, and others.
- Multicultural Team Leadership: Lead a diverse project team spanning different locations and cultures, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
Requirements:
- Lead the development of large-scale offshore wind projects in South Korea, demonstrating a deep understanding of consenting processes, offtake mechanisms, and governmental relations within the region.
- Possess a proven track record in the renewable energy sector, particularly within the offshore wind industry.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field (engineering, environmental science, business administration) is required.
- A minimum of 15 years of experience in a relevant field, such as renewable energy development or offshore wind farm construction, is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to navigate complex stakeholder environments and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
- Fluency in Korean and English with excellent communication skills in both languages is mandatory.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently on short notice is required.
