About the Role

NextWave are working with a leading renewable energy organisation who have a strong track record in developing, financing, constructing and operating renewable energy assets globally. They currently have a large pipeline of offshore wind projects in Korea and, as a result, are now looking to hire a Head of Technical to build out their EPC and Technical function at the business from scratch.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee engineering activities throughout the project lifecycle, providing daily leadership to the technical project team for Offshore Wind projects.
  • Managing technical functions, being the focal point for technical discussions and assessing their commercial impact, as well as overseeing resource and schedule planning, and budget adherence.
  • Take responsibility for defining, optimizing, and integrating project design considering commercial drivers, schedule, and budget, including technical sign-off on critical decisions, work packages, and contracts.
  • Interface with package management, construction, commissioning, and operations teams to ensure holistic consideration of the project across its lifecycle.
  • Establish contracting strategy, lead the bidding process, negotiate, and finalize major project contracts such as EPC, WTG, and O&M.
  • Manage the engineering team members on the project and ensure the delivery of project deliverables.
  • Coordinate external resources, including design companies, consultants, manufacturers, suppliers, marine contractors, logistics companies, and marine warranty surveyors.
  • Address, report, and mitigate risks, working to minimize or close them out.
  • Promote and ensure the implementation of good HSSE practices.
  • Collaborate with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on improvement and development projects funded by local, central government, and private entities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or above in Engineering
  • Previous experience building out engineering teams from the ground up
  • Prior experience in offshore wind is preferred
  • Fluency in English is essential due to both internal and external stakeholder relationship management duties
