About the Role

NextWave are working with a leading energy utility who are building a large offshore wind project off the East Coast of the USA. They are looking to hire an experienced Commissioning Manager to lead the overall commissioning of the offshore substations on the project.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overseeing the commissioning activities to ensure alignment with project agreements, timelines, standards, and defined objectives.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders-including teams handling electrical systems, SCADA, scheduling, quality control, and safety-to support the successful completion of offshore infrastructure.
  • Foster and maintain productive working relationships with contractors, engaging across various levels of their organization to track progress and offer strategic input.
  • Provide daily leadership to a team of on-site supervisors.
  • Deliver clear and consistent updates to senior project leadership through scheduled and as-needed reporting.
  • Take an active role in quality assurance, safety, and environmental compliance during installation and commissioning phases of offshore substation systems.
  • Recognize potential risks, report them appropriately, and contribute to the creation of mitigation strategies as part of the broader risk management framework.

Requirements:

  • BSc or MSc in Electrical Engineering or similar degree.
  • Direct work experience as Commissioning Manager for at least one offshore platform project throughout construction, equipment installation and onshore and offshore commissioning.
  • Experience with commissioning of an offshore wind project is a plus.
  • Right to work in the USA
  • A team player with ability and motivation to work in a diverse environment with people of different cultural backgrounds.
  • Due to internal interface responsibilities, communication skills in English, both written and spoken are key
