About the role

We are partnering with a product company to look for a talented and passionate Engineering Lead who combines hands-on technical expertise with team leadership. As Engineering Lead, you'll guide the development of core features, mentor engineers, and ensure delivery of reliable, scalable, and impactful software.


Roles and responsibilities

• Drive key technical decisions and architecture across projects.

• Own the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable systems.

• Collaborate with other tech leads to shape best practices across the engineering org.

• Mentor and guide a team of engineers across frontend, backend, and DevSecOps disciplines.

• Support career growth through regular feedback and knowledge sharing.

• Help foster a collaborative, learning-oriented engineering culture.

• Partner with Product, Design, Customer Success, and Sustainability teams to scope features and deliver impactful solutions.

• Translate product requirements into clear technical plans and milestones.

• Take ownership of feature delivery from concept to production.

• Ensure high code quality, test coverage, and maintainability.

• Lead code reviews and contribute directly to the codebase.

• Champion secure coding practices and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g. ISO 27001, SOC).

• Help monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and reduce downtime.

• Work with DevOps to optimise infrastructure for scalability and cost.

• Continuously improve performance metrics (latency, uptime, response time).

• Recommend and introduce tools, libraries, or frameworks that improve engineering productivity.

• Stay informed on industry trends, particularly around AI/ML integration and scalable SaaS architecture.

Requirements

• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.

• 7+ years of experience in software development, with 1-3 years in a tech/team lead role

• Experience building and maintaining B2B or enterprise SaaS platforms.

• Strong coding skills in:

• JavaScript, React, and Node.js (with module federation architecture)

• Python for backend services

• Relational and NoSQL databases: SQL Server, PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB

• Docker and Kubernetes for containerised deployments

• Proficiency with AWS cloud infrastructure and services.

• A track record of working effectively in Agile environments.

• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

• Strong problem-solving, prioritisation, and decision-making abilities.
