About the role

We are partnering with a product company to look for a talented and passionate Engineering Manager with a strong technical foundation and proven leadership capabilities. This role is key to shaping the future of their SaaS platform, ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and high-quality software. You will lead a cross-functional engineering team and work closely with product, design, and other stakeholders.


Roles and responsibilities

1. Technical Strategy & Architecture

• Define and guide the technical direction of the product.
• Evaluate trade-offs between development approaches and mitigate technical risks.

2. Team Leadership & Development

• Manage, mentor, and grow a diverse engineering team across frontend, backend, DevSecOps, data, and analytics.
• Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration.
• Oversee hiring and professional development to close skill gaps.

3. Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Align closely with Product, Customer Success, Sustainability, and Solution Engineering to prioritise features and deliver against the roadmap.
• Partner with Design to deliver intuitive user experiences.

4. Project Management & Execution

• Plan and manage feature delivery across the product lifecycle.
• Drive execution excellence by maintaining scope, timelines, and quality.

5. Technical Excellence

• Maintain a high-quality, scalable codebase.
• Enforce best practices in coding, testing, QA, and code reviews.
• Integrate DevSecOps and MLOps practices to streamline development workflows.

6. Security & Compliance

• Ensure secure coding practices and compliance with standards such as ISO 27001 and SOC.
• Collaborate with Legal and IT to maintain platform security.

7. Monitoring & Incident Response

• Establish logging, alerting, and monitoring systems.
• Lead incident resolution and minimize customer impact.

8. Infrastructure & Performance

• Design systems for scalability and high availability.
• Optimize cloud infrastructure costs and SaaS performance metrics (uptime, latency, response time).

9. Process Improvement & Innovation

• Identify and implement tools or platforms to boost development efficiency.
• Stay ahead of industry trends and adopt best practices for industrialising AI and ML capabilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
• 10+ years of software development experience, including 3+ years in engineering management roles.
• Experience in B2B / enterprise-grade SaaS development.
• Hands-on skills in:
• JavaScript, React, Node.js (with module federation)
• Python (for backend development)
• Databases: SQL Server, Oracle, PostgreSQL, MongoDB
• Containers & orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
• Familiarity with AWS and cloud-native environments.
• Experience in Agile development and remote-first team collaboration.
• Strong communication, stakeholder management, and decision-making skills.
• Data-driven approach and excellent prioritisation abilities.
• A proactive, self-starting attitude with a growth mindset.
