About the role

NextWave Partners are currently seeking Head of Power Transmission to oversee all aspects of the power transmission infrastructure related to the development of an Offshore Wind Farm. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency, project management expertise, and leadership acumen. Your primary focus will involve the management of Power Transmission functions, including oversight of Substations, Electrical systems, and Cables. You will collaborate with the procurement and management teams to devise and implement the overall Power Transmission strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate a team consisting of project managers, transmission engineers, technicians, and support staff to accomplish departmental objectives.

  • Offer guidance, mentorship, and opportunities for professional development to team members, enhancing their skills and capabilities.

  • Cultivate a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continual improvement within the Power Transmission department.

  • Supervise the planning, design, procurement, installation, and commissioning of power transmission systems for offshore wind farms.

  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders, external contractors, and regulatory bodies to ensure adherence to project schedules, budgets, and quality benchmarks.

  • Manage risks, issues, and dependencies, implementing effective mitigation strategies for successful pipeline delivery.

  • Develop and execute maintenance strategies and programs for power transmission assets in conjunction with our O&M Department to ensure reliability, availability, and optimal performance.

  • Assist in monitoring the performance and reliability metrics of the transmission system, analysing data trends, and identifying improvement opportunities.

  • Ensure compliance with pertinent regulations, codes, standards, and permits governing power transmission operations and maintenance.

  • Stay updated on industry advancements and best practices in power transmission technology, regulations, and safety protocols.

  • Collaborate with regulatory bodies, industry associations, and stakeholders to advocate for policies fostering the development of renewable energy transmission infrastructure.

Qualifications:

  • A bachelor's or master's degree in electrical engineering (advanced degree preferred)

  • 5+ years of professional experience in offshore wind or a relevant industry

  • 10+ years in the management of large and complex technical projects. Experience as a project/package manager in Substations, subsea cables, or Electrical Systems is advantageous.

  • Extensive knowledge of power transmission systems and electrical engineering, project management, and operations, preferably within the renewable energy sector.

  • Strong leadership and managerial capabilities, with the ability to inspire and empower teams towards achieving strategic goals.

  • Profound understanding of power transmission systems, equipment, and technologies, including substations, cables, transformers, and switchgear.

  • Familiarity with pertinent industry standards, regulations, and practices, such as grid codes, safety codes, and environmental regulations.

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

  • A proven track record of delivering projects on time and within budget within dynamic and fast-paced environments.
