Currently working alongside a main Developer looking for an Engineering Manager to lead all engineering activities and deliverables across development and construction of offshore wind farms in Japan.

The role involves a broad range of responsibilities from project development to execution, emphasising technical expertise, leadership, and effective communication.



Responsibilities:



Project Lifecycle Management - Oversee engineering activities throughout the offshore wind project lifecycle.

Team Leadership - Act as a key interface between Japanese and European technical teams, providing day-to-day leadership for the in-country technical project team.

Regulatory Compliance - Manage engineering input into project descriptions, permits, and statutory consents during the development phase, ensuring compliance with regulations.

Stakeholder Engagement - Support the development team in engaging with key stakeholders, including fisheries, residents, local and prefectural governments, etc.

Technical Requirements - Lead the definition of technical requirements and manage initial engineering work packages.

Design Integrity and Risk Management - Ensure design integrity, compliance, and technical risk management according to regulations and standards.

Project Schedule - Support the development of the project schedule.

Financial Oversight - Responsible for the delivery of CAPEX and OPEX for technical elements, with oversight of technical Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE).

Stakeholder Engagement - Actively engage with stakeholders and the supply chain.

Bid Strategy - Contribute to bid strategy development.

M&A Due Diligence - Lead technical due diligence activities for mergers and acquisitions opportunities.

Health and Safety - Ensure the highest standard of health and safety on all projects.



Requirements:



Degree qualification or equivalent in an engineering discipline.

Extensive experience in energy development, preferably in renewables, in roles such as engineering manager or technical management.

Background supporting the development, design/engineering, and construction phases of power generation or transmission aspects related to offshore wind.

Ability to work at the start-up stage of a project, developing systems, standards, and processes.

Proven leadership skills, along with accomplished planning and organizational abilities.

Excellent communication, diplomatic, networking, and influencing skills across various levels and cultures.
