About the Role
The Chief Officer is responsible to the Master for the day to day running of the vessel and crew. The Chief Officer will familiarise himself with the Master's duties so as to be able to deputise for the Master in his absence or, if necessary, assume command.
Responsibilities
Establish and maintain a comprehensive knowledge of the Company SMS
Participate in RA's & TBT's as appropriate.
Undertaking any duties assigned to him by the Master
Conducting Bridge watches, as instructed by the Master, in accordance with STCW;
Leading and motivating crew members during deck and cargo operations;
Security of vessel at all times
Ensuring before the ship puts to sea or encounters adverse weather that all watertight doors and hatches are securely closed
Setting crew members' watches with due respect to applicable rest hour regulations
