NextWave Partners is working with a fast-growing renewable (Wind + Storage, Solar + Storage, and Stand-Alone Storage) IPP that is seeking to fill a technical role that will support their development efforts through identifying market opportunities. The Transmission Planning Engineer will interface with the Transmission, Finance, and Development Teams.
Responsibilities
- Provide analytical support and insights to a growing portfolio of Storage, Renewable, and Hybrid projects
- Run power flow analysis to identify opportunities and implications of interconnection to different points in the grid
- Run near and long-term production cost studies to forecast projected price impacts and performance of a changing generation fleet
- Develop cost estimates for construction of interconnection facilities
- Assess technical and commercial feasibility of building or acquiring projects
- Prepare reports and summaries of technical results for presentation to non-technical team members
- Develop and streamline processes and automations to support an efficient workflow
Requirements
- Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (special consideration to candidates with advanced degrees)
- 5+ years (ideally 8-12 years) of Power Systems Related experience
- Proficiency in one or more of the following tools: TARA, PSS/E, PROMOD, AURORA, PLEXOS
- Experience in at least one of the organized markets (ISOs)
- Will have experience with Python, Java, or similar programing languages
- Requires candidate with strong communication abilities
- Authorization to work in the US
- Entrepreneurial spirit and ability to work well in high-pressure work-environment
