The Tokyo office’s primary short-term task is to support the project organization by providing insights
into political and industry developments, scouting for new business opportunities in Japan.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
- Support the mapping of political, regulatory, industry, and competitor landscape
- Engagement planning (with Country Manager, project managers and external support) in Japan
- Scouting for new business opportunities in coordination with the central business development team
- Responsible for first screening of prospective projects
- Lead or support negotiating relevant project contracts, including due diligence work
- Working with project teams in Head Office in Europe, lead or support licensing, permitting, EIA processes
- Provide project support / attend project meetings with partners in Japan
- Selection and management of consultants to assist with the project development where necessary
- Reporting on the progress of the project
- Committee representation for Equinor in JWPA and other industry associations
- Join the Country manager in meetings
- Assist in preparing top management external meetings (e.g. meeting briefs to executives)
- Resource in emergency response (e.g. contact to authorities in Japanese)
Qualifications
- Previous (early phase) experience developing a power project in Japan
- Fluent English and Japanese
- Bachelor’s Degree from a recognised University
- Knowledge of the Japanese energy and electricity sector
- Insight into the renewable energy market, particularly the offshore wind sector, is preferred
- Thriving in small, start-up alike organisation
