NexWave Partners is currently engaged with a reputable IPP developing Solar, Wind, and Storage projects throughout the US. They are looking for a High Voltage Electrical Supervisor who will provide front-line High Voltage (HV) Electrical Equipment support to operating wind farms across the Company. This position will work in conjunction with other High Voltage Operations staff and the Electrical Engineers as the Company’s subject matter expert on essentially all HV issues. 

This role will be based in NY, will have up to 4 direct reports, and travel up to 30%

Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical, high-voltage, collection system, and substation support to operating wind farms including constant on-call support
  • Provide support and feedback regarding electrical design, engineering, testing, and construction as requested
  • Support and coordinate commissioning, start-up, and initial operating activities
  • Optimize scheduled maintenance with consideration of available and forecasted fuel resource, weather, and reactive maintenance activities
  • Report problems and update activities in the SAP CMMS as needed
  • Maintain inventory, inspection, and calibration of all tooling and equipment as required
  • Manage the HV spare parts inventory of the Renewable Power Plants in the applicable zone
  • Perform safe switching and grounding of HV equipment including circuit breakers, disconnect switches, power transformers, and all related components as necessary
  • Participate in the engineering, design, and construction review processes including review of collection system, substation, and transmission line designs
  • Develop and implement site betterment projects including preparation of scope documents, exhibits, budgets, schedules, and requests for proposals (RFPs)
  • Support and coordinate electrical equipment maintenance at company facilities with LO/TO and outage planning
  • Serve as an example and ambassador of safe work practices
  • Perform equipment inspections and testing and store the reports in the respective depository to ensure compliance with the applicable NERC standards
  • Perform emergency and routine repairs that may require specialized tools, materials, or permits
  • Train subordinates and other field personnel to perform IR thermography, electrical equipment maintenance, and prepare them to operate collection system and substation equipment 

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • 5+ years of relevant technical experience
  • Necessary qualifications to operate HV equipment
  • Expert knowledge of medium- and high-voltage substation electrical equipment including relay protection systems, collection systems, transmission designs, and operations
  • Experience with power generation or distribution preferred
  • Experience with establishing HV field service preferred
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project software suites, and SEL Equipment
  • Experience with relay and protection fundamentals
  • Experience with LOTO and OTO procedures software suit preferred
  • Familiarity with the operation of capacitor banks, transformer load tap changers, circuit breakers, and motor/manually operated air disconnect switches
  • Ability to meet physical requirements of being on project sites
