About the role
I'm currently working with a leading international renewable energy developer who have been active in India for quite some time now. For that purpose, they are looking for an Environmental and Social Manager that has hands-on field experience, that can ensure that projects deliver on its commitments and obligations in relation to environmental and social aspects.
Responsibilities
Ensure compliance with the Company's Sustainability Policy and Code of Conduct
To ensure that all projects follow the Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards and lead dialogue with project lenders with respect to E&S discipline matters
To Lead development and coordination of Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIAs) and executing of Environmental and Social Action Plans (ESAPs)
Support execution of project related plans including, Environmental and Social Management Plans, Stakeholder Engagement Plan, Ecological Management Plan, Occupational Health and Safety Plan, Waste Management Plan, Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan
Ensuring implementation and monitoring of different environmental and social commitments and activities required for project compliance
Able to initiate, develop and implement internal ESG projects across countries and business units
Prepare presentation material and occasionally represent the business
Perform site visits and participate in team meetings with partners as required
Requirements
University degree within social science, biology, resource economics or environmental/climate science
5-10 years of work experience with environmental and social risk management of infrastructure or energy projects
Hands on experience in overseeing projects from origination phase through construction and into operations phase preferably with site implementation experience from hydro, wind and/or solar developments
Experience in stakeholder engagement, livelihood restoration, resettlement, and management at different levels
Experience in project management, including leading small teams and working with senior stakeholders
Strong knowledge of and practical experience working with international environmental and social standards including the Equator Principles and IFC Performance Standards
Fluent in English, spoken and written (working knowledge of other regional language is advantageous)
You are used to changing environments and to quickly meet new challenges
Experience in handling social conflicts
