We are working with a leading renewables company with a global presence helping to change the world and make it a greener place. They need someone to come in to lead their Data Engineering practice and drive analytics across the business and with their customers.

Someone who is passionate about Data and merging different technologies, someone who is going to initiate improvements and who has had extensive experience across multiple technologies and industries.

Being the technical leader all things data, you would help drive the processes across the business through working with a variety of stakeholders. Coming from a technical background yourself, you’ll architect, design and manage all the data projects to ensure that the various data sources are getting data to the right places to conduct proper analytics.

Running with an analytical mindset, you’ll have to drive new initiatives, revamp the current set up and introduce new technology to the company.

Responsibilities

  • Set up a vision for the data management of the business for data engineering and data analytics purposes. This should be backed by research and analytics.
  • Build a long term plan to help guide the company to making data driven decisions to improve on business decisions e.g. manufacturing quality, customer experience, optimization, cost efficiency etc.
  • Design solutions that look at program and product impact, helping to look through various product plans
  • Manage consultants as well as individual contributors for the position
  • Set a strategy for the team as well as a roadmap that helps to prioritize the initiatives for the business
  • Be the interface between the business and the technical data team, also managing various vendor partners to ensure your vision gets delivered
  • Own the full architecture and data engineering processes end to end
  • Be able to delivery data pipelines and data streams using on Prem and Cloud technologies, across structured and unstructured data sources, incorporating new wave technology
  • Have a business mindset that gets outcomes done across multiple teams and initiatives

Requirements

  • Minimally Bachelors in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics or related fields
  • Holding 10+ years of experience working with complex data sets in enterprise set ups, having seen through enterprise level system implementation to build data warehouses, ETL automation and BI visualization
  • Have 5+ years of management experience to project manage and work with various stakeholders to drive new initiatives
  • Strong technical vision and implementation abilities
  • Ideally worked within the manufacturing or energy industry, otherwise across multiple industries beforehand
  • Deep knowledge in Cloud technology AWS (e.g. S3 Data Lake, Athena, EMR) and Python
  • Good to have advanced proficiency in SQL, ETL and Big Data exposure (e.g. Hive, Spark, Pig)
  • Good to understand CICD concepts and deployment practices
  • Ideally worked with Machine Learning or AI solutions before
  • Strong attentional to detail and ability to run through a project with great professional standards
